BFI & PrettyFresh Present Sonic Cinema

Posted on 28 November 2011

Tomorrow night - Friday 7th October - will be the first night in a series of Sonic Cinema events at London's British Film Institute.

The series is set to be a celebration of all things film and music, music and film, and begins with the screening of 1933 big-screen classic "King Kong" set to a re-score by muso Rob Da Bank. Not only will he be playing his take on the soundtrack out into the cinema while you watch the film, but he'll also be hanging around to answer questions in a live Q&A afterwards.

It's 'dinner and a movie' with a twist, and with tunes from the likes of Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Bon Iver and Harry Connick Junior, Sonic Cinema will definitely provide a departure from the Friday night norm.

An 'After-Show' party at the BFI's Benuga Bar and Kitchen will provide the opportunity to up the pace with DJ sets, drinks and a lot of dancing.

For tickets you can go here http://bfi.org.uk/whatson/bfi_southbank and check out here http://itsprettyfresh.com for details on next months venture with Adam Buxton and faces from Radiohead and Supergrass.

I'm back. And here's something awesome...

Posted on 28 November 2011

I know I know, its been ages since my last post and I'm utterly rubbish. Luckily, I've got something utterly great to come back with...

On Saturday 1st October, east London venue XOYO will play host to one of the most exciting album launch parties of the year. After two years in development, the long-awaited full length album Glass Swords, by Warp signing Rustie will be launched with a live show, and exciting line up, including Darkstart and Nightwave.

Already the album's had massive support from music mags and websites, and as one of the most anticipated dates of the autumn, its one to get involved in for sure.

Get more details of the night here http://www.xoyo.co.uk/event/rustie-glass-swords-album-launch, and head over to Warp's site for more information on Rustie, the album and to hear some of the album. You will love it. I promise.

Love = LV

Posted on 8 July 2011

Without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite album of the year so far is LV's 'Routes' featuring Joshua Idehen, out on Keysound on 23rd May. I love it. Everything about the album is London and it has everything from dance-floor garage-inspired future classics to tracks to lie down to. It's awesome.

The good news is that this Saturday (14th May) the guys will be launching the album at Video Visions in Dalston from 10pm. So you can listen to an exclusive mix of the album here http://www.factmag.com/2011/04/12/download-an-exclusive-mix-of-material-... and then hear it live.

That should tide you over until 23rd.

Enjoy.

A sunshine band: Theme Park

Posted on 8 July 2011

I've just received an email that says "Rimmel my band please". And I have because I like this lots. London-based Theme Park are two brothers and three friends who's catchy, light-hearted guitar tunes are already creating some fuss. No gigs lined up just yet, so you have time to listen to the songs loads of times and learn the words.

Have a listen now while its the weather for it... http://soundcloud.com/themepark
