We love playing around with makeup trends and new looks, but sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day to sit in front of our mirror and mess around with brushes and palettes. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up 3 great on trend looks that won’t take you all day. In fact, they’ll only take you 5 minutes.
So now you have no excuse not to play with colour on your lids...
Creative eyeliner is a huge 2016 trend, and it’s easier than you think to jump on board. All you need is your favourite liquid eyeliner and a steady hand. UseExaggerate Eyeliner, £5.29, if you like a liquid formula, while if you prefer felt tip-style liner, thenScandalEyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner, £5.49, will give you the accuracy you crave.
A simple way to nail this trend – and one of our favourite eyeliner looks to come off the SS16 catwalks – is to follow the crease of your eyelid to create a striking negative space.
Start by drawing a cat-eye flick that’s level with the end of your eyelid crease, and bring the end of the flick out as far as you like.
Then, with a steady hand, draw a line along your crease to join the flick. Make this line as long as you please – you can stop halfway, or bring it all the way along to finish right in the inner corner of your eye.
Out of the blue
You may have noticed a tide of blue sweeping through the fashion shows this year, and this summer trend is going to carry right on into autumn. There’s something to suit everyone, from washed out baby blues to bright stripes of ultramarine.
For this trend, we’re going bold, using Magnif’Eyes Double-Ended Shadow & Liner in Dark Side of Blue, £6.99 for a strong yet easy-to-nail look. All you need to do is use the blue end of the stick to draw a thick line around your eyes, along the lower and upper lash lines.
You can take the colour on your lids as high as you like, or into a flick at the outer corners of your eyes. Then grab a small stiff brush and blend the line out to give your eyeliner a blurred finish. This eyeshadow stick is particularly great because once it’s on, it stays in place all day, giving you bold blue eyelids for hours on end.
Match lids and tips
The modern way to wear colour is matchy-matchy, so twin your makeup with your nails. In amongst the graphic lines and strong colour this year, models were doing just that – in the subtlest way - on the catwalks.
With beautifully blushed lids and cheeks, wear our Super Gel French Manicure collection on nails, which gives you an ultra-glossy finish that lasts for up to 14 days. First, slick on the pinky hue of English Rose, £5.99, then start priming your eyelids with Scandal’Eyes Shadow Stick in Witness White, £4.49. This adds a lovely subtle shimmer, and will make the top colour pop.
Then layer on Magnif’Eyes Mono in Poser, £4.49, a lovely blush pink shade. Apply the pink all over the lid, and in a thin line under the lower lashes, then use a blending brush to diffuse the edges outwards, so there are no harsh lines.
Whichever eye trend you decide to try out, top off your look with Volume Colourist Mascara, £7.99 which gives you thick, luscious lashes instantly. Plus the unique formula tints your eyelashes over time, so it looks as though you’re wearing mascara even when your face is bare!
