It may feel like the depths of autumn outside but summer isn’t quite over yet with our favourite festival, Bestival, kicking off right now.
Swapping sandals for wellies and braving the cold to wear Kate Moss-inspired denim hot pants, it’s the final goodbye to this year’s sunshine.
But Bestival isn’t all about the music - it’s a chance to be as fierce and dynamic as possible with your beauty look. Check out our top five tips for working the latest trends...
1. All about that base
When you’re packing for a festival, a full-on contour and highlighting kit won't be your main priority - so it’s important to keep the base as simple as possible. Rimmel's Match Perfection foundation will cover any burger-van induced blemishes and cover those pesky dark circles, too.
Keep cool throughout the day with Stay Matte powder which is a handy size for keeping in your retro-cool bumbag.
2. Eye catching!
If there was ever a time to work strong colour on the lids, it’s now. The Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in Blamed Blue taps into 2015's aqua trend and can be applied and smudged out with your finger for quick application.
Get your flick on with a jet black liner and don’t be afraid to expand those wings out even further than usual. It's festival season after all, eh?
Finally, finish the eye look with lashings of waterproof mascara that will last from dusk to dawn.
3. The cheek of it
While you’ll be keen to keep your focus on the eyes and lips, don’t forget about adding a colour pop to the apples of your cheeks. A subtle pink will warm up the face and make you look alive, and no-one will ever know you were up dancing til 5am.
4. Lip service
From singing along to the banging tunes to (maybe?) smooching a hot rock star - your lips go through a lot at a festival. The last thing you want when you’re 20 people deep in the dance tent is to worry about your lipstick smudging. A long-lasting formula is the only solution.
Keep things bold and beautiful - swap out your usual nude for a neon pink to contrast with the statement eye look.
The colour and lock system of Provocalips combines an incredibly pigmented colour on one end with a lock and shine gloss on the other, meaning one application will last you all through the day and night. Our top pick? Little Minx, a bright colour pop pink.
5. Nail it
Finally, prep ahead the night before you set off and use Bestival as the perfect opportunity for some fun nail art. Whether you want to recreate tiny Minions on your nails or just whack on the glitter, the choice is yours.
You can keep your nails fresh and simple with two coats of Bestival Blue from Rita Ora’s 60 Seconds collection, but you can always add Tangerine Tent over the tips of the nails for a fun take on a French manicure.
Done - your bright and booming look for Bestival is in the bag...
