Sun-kissed strobing: your easy guide to a summer holiday glow

Highlighter is everything. It makes everyone look fresh and glowy, it's really easy to apply, and you can wear it day to night. That's why we love the strobing trend: it sees sheeny makeup tapped over the tops of cheekbones, eyelids, brow bones and the cupid's bow for a glossy skin finish.

This is contouring for glow-lovers, as wearing layers of light-reflective highlighters can lift your cheekbones, make your lips appear plumped-up, and brighten your eyes. Plus, it's a must for your holiday when you a) want to enhance your sun-kissed skin, and b) need your makeup to hide the signs of too many late nights in the beach bar. Here's how to nail it...

The Kit

your easy guide to a summer holiday glow

To get the look, you'll need a bevy of glow-givers - starting with your base. Apply Wake Me Up Foundation, £8.99, which is ultra-hydrating (so it glides on smoothly) and packed with fatigue-fighting radiance pearls.

Use two kinds of highlighters - a liquid illuminator and a shimmering powder. We like Good to Glow Highlighter in Soho Glow, £4.99, for a bronze finish, plus the lightest shade in the Kate Sculpting Palette, £6.99.

A champagne-coloured pencil will help you strobe your eyelids, too. Grab the Magnif'Eyes Double-Ended Shadow + Liner in Queens of a Bronzed Age, £6.99, which has a fine, gold tip on one end.

And, to top off your glossy look, use a lipstick with a dose of dewy shine like Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick, £6.49. There are six shades to choose from, from nudes, to pinks, to berries.

Once you've applied the glow-boosting foundation, start patting on the Good to Glow Highlighter. It's a luminous liquid that's easy to blend and high on flattering sheen. Use your fingers to dab it along your cheekbones, just above and below your brows, down the bridge of your nose, the centre of your chin, and right on the cupid's bow.

Now, take the powder highlighter in the Kate Sculpting Palette and, using a small, fluffy brush, trace it over those same spots to take your glow to the next level. Use the fine tip of the Magnif'Eyes Double-Ended Shadow + Liner in Queens of a Bronzed Age to highlight your eyes, tracing it in the inner corners and on the centre of your lids.

Finally, choose a Sheer & Shine Lipstick to polish off your strobed makeup. Try Better & Brighter for a suits-all nude, or add a flush of colour with Red-Y, Set, Go!
